Hello everyone! The Summer Institute is now over. I'd like to thank our featured speaker, Sheryl Stanley, for an informative and interesting morning session. And a big thank you goes to all the participants for their thoughtful questions and comments throughout the day.

We only had one person try for a free registration. Jennifer Groves, a MLS student at Emporia State University, put together a clever advocacy poem. Congratulations, Jen!

Library advocacy
Is
Bringing people together,
Reaching out to the community,
Addressing peoples’ needs, and
Recognizing what resources are available. It is having a
Yen to serve others.

Allocating funds for community programs
Delivers the message that the library
Values its patrons by supporting important services. Advocates need to
Organize support within their libraries and
Communities through
Advertising campaigns, action plans, and websites. By working together, we can
Change lives and give people a voice. This is what librarians
Yearn to accomplish through library advocacy.
